One of the Reasons I Love Dexter
Last night was a pretty good night all in all and reminded me of one of the reasons I love Dexter. I walked into town (under the bridge - scary) to meet a friend for coffee at Bearclaw Coffee. As I walked over the partially completed new main street bridge and past the fire station, I saw my neighbor, Steve, driving home from his job at LaFontaine Chevrolet. He waved as he went by and I continued on into downtown. Then my next door neighbors, Rich and Sandra, drove by on their way home and smiled and waved, too. I couldn’t see her, but no doubt their daughter, Deanna, was in the back seat waving as well. Then, while sitting and having coffee in Bearclaw, who do I see but my OTHER next door neighbor, Dave Boyle, who waved as well. He and his wife, Rose Mary, own the Cookie Momster cookie store in town and Dave is also the Village Clerk.
I love that I see so many people that I know, seemingly every time I go into town. When I lived in Dearborn or Warren, it was rather unusual to run into people I knew at the store or a restaurant. Here it is rare for me to go into town and I don’t see someone I know. That, and the waves and smiles - seems everyone always waves and smiles, even if they don’t know you. There is definitely something special about this little town.
